While I am in Australia and New Zealand in September and October 2009, I will be running an open Knowledge Cafe in Sydney on the evening of 1st October.
The knowledge cafe will be hosted by AMP who are delighted to host the Knowledge Cafe on the 25th Floor of their building - offering not only hospitality, friendship and sharing but also arguably the best views in Sydney (see the map below). The cafe is open to members of the Gurteen Knowledge Community; other KM networks and anyone else who is interested in participating.
If you would like to attend this event could you please register here. Although the event is free, your name is needed for security purposes. Click the button and complete the pop-up form.
I am sorry - registration has been closed as over 100 people have signed up for this Knowledge Cafe and we are out of space!
As a few people are likely to drop out, if you wish you can go on the waiting list and I will let you know nearer the time if you have a place or not.
Date: Thursday 1st October 2009 5:00pm - 7:30pm. Please arrive at 5:00pm or shortly after which will give you time to settle in and meet other people. Drinks and light refreshments will be available. The cafe itself will start at 5:30pm. It will end about 7:30pm and for those of you interested and would like to talk longer we will go on for dinner.
Theme: What are the implications for leaders who didn't grow up in a digital, participatory world?
What are the implications for leaders who didn't grow up in a digital, participatory world? Can such command and control style leaders change their spots? How and why should they? And how can we help them?
The Gurteen Knowledge Cafe
I will start the evening by explaining the history of the Cafes; their purpose; their benefits and the process by which they are run. If you would like to know more see here.
I will then move on to run a knowledge cafe. A guest speaker will talk briefly to the theme and I will facilitate the conversational session.
I have run 100s of knowledge cafes over the last few years and they are really great learning and networking events. Everyone engages with the theme of the cafe and some tremendous insightful, energetic conversations take place. If you can make it - please do come along. You will not be disappointed. Better still the cafe format is one that you can take back with you and use in your own organizations to help create a more innovative culture.
To get an idea of the event take a look below at a video of the last Gurteen Knowledge Cafe that Annalie also hosted at AMP in Sydney in October 2007..
On 25th October 2007 I ran a Knowledge Cafe in Sydney. It was hosted by Annalie Killian of AMP on the 25th Floor of their building overlooking Sydney Harbour.
The Cafe was on the theme "What will be the impact of Social Tools within Organizations?" which I co-facilitated with Helen Paige who is regional director of the Gurteen Knowledge Community in Adelaide. About 70 people attended. It was a great evening.
