The cafe itself will start at 6:30pm. For those interested we normally go for a drink at a local pub after the event.

Theme: No More Consultants.  Can we do without them?
Geoff Parcell and Chris Collison, authors of the best selling KM book “Learning to Fly”,  have recently published a new book provocatively titled “No More Consultants: We know more than we think.”  In this café they will be having a debate between themselves about whether organisations still need consultants, can they manage without them, and if they do use them what do they use them for? They have been in the position of hiring consultants for large organisations and also being hired in turn. They’ll share their experience with the room then turn it over to you, the audience, to discuss.

Speakers: Geoff Parcell and Chris Collison

Geoff Parcell is a business coach and a practitioner of knowledge management. His brand of knowledge management focuses on connecting people for collaboration and creating the environment for the effective flow of knowledge.

During an 18 month secondment from BP to the UN he used proven KM techniques to share good practices on responding to HIV/AIDS globally, developing a Self Assessment approach for AIDS Competence. He remains connected with the response to AIDS and also advises a range of organisations in the private and public sectors to identify and build on their capabilities.

Geoff supports groups at all levels to identify their strengths, learn and share what they know and turn that knowledge into action. See http://www.practicalKM.com for further details.

Chris Collison is an independent consultant, specialising in knowledge management and organisational learning. Together with Geoff, he wrote the best-selling KM book “Learning to Fly: Practical Knowledge Management from Leading and Learning Organisations”, and the recently published “No More Consultants: We know more than we think”.

After 15 years with BP and Centrica, during the past five years he has worked as an advisor to over 60 clients in public and private sectors, ranging from the NHS to Credit Suisse. Chris has been a visiting lecturer at Henley, Cranfield and Liverpool Business Schools, and a regular speaker at public and corporate in-house events. Chris is married with two young daughters, and lives in Ascot.
