|
Date: Tuesday 5 Feb 2019, 6:00pm - 9:00pm. This is a free event. Please arrive at 6:00pm or shortly after, which will give you time to settle in and meet other people. Refreshments will be provided. The cafe itself will start prompt at 6:30pm. Theme and Question: How do you feel about fear? We rarely talk about our fears and yet much of what we do - and perhaps even more of what we don't do - is driven by fear. The danger is that our fears can be indistinct and not something that we engage with in any detailed or meaningful way. At the extremes we can end up battling with or fighting our fears. In this contest we tend to rarely learn much. The question is then whether, if we change our approach to fear entirely, treating it as a valuable resource, what might we learn? This is the approach taken by the “Fear Hack” process which seeks to reframe not only fear but the lens through which we understand power itself. Speaker: Hilary Gallo Hilary was originally a corporate lawyer at Clifford Chance who became a negotiator and then a commercial director at Accenture, Capgemini and BAE Systems until one day when he decided to quit and do what he loved instead. He faced his fears and left his well-paid job only to find out that what scared him kept chasing him about. As well as being the author of two books, he now works with a range of people from creative leaders to primary school children on their quite different but somehow related challenges. For the past couple of years, he has been running Fear Hack workshops alongside his main work as a coach. Hilary's new book is called Fear Hack. He is also the author of The Power of Soft – a guide to getting what you want without being a **** .
