I will be visiting Jakarta from 28 Jan to 12 Feb and Singapore for a few days from 13 - 15 Feb. If you would like to meet with me either formally or informally please get in touch.
While in Singapore, I will be running a free Knowledge Cafe on the evening of Monday 13th February. You can learn more about the event and register here:

I have been running Knowledge Cafes all over the world for the last ten years. They grew out of my frustration with death-by-powerpoint, chalk-and-talk type presentations. A Knowledge Cafe is different.
In a Knowledge Cafe, the speaker normally only speaks for 10 - 20 minutes without slides and poses a questions to the participants (not the audience!) that is then discussed for the remainder of the session.
This conversational approach a far more interesting and engaging way to learn than "sitting listening". It also is a wonderful format for informal networking and I have often run Kcafes where a number of networks have come together to discuss a topic of mutual interest.
I run open Knowledge Cafes regularly in London. An open Kcafe is hosted by an organization who sees the value in the Kcafes and they are open to anyone who cares to come along. They are totally free.
You never know what you might learn, who you might meet and what might come of the evening. And if you are more of a listener than a talker then that's OK too ... in a Kcafe you are not compelled to do anything you don't want to do. Just turn up and enjoy the evening.
There are four parts to the evening:
- I will explain the background to the Kcafe.
- I will then describe the principles of the Kcafe and the process.
- Karuna Ramanathan, Deputy Head of the Center for Leadership Development in the Singapore Armed Forces, who many of you will know, is our speaker. He will then talk for a short while on the theme of the evening "Storytelling".
- Finally, I will facilitate a Kcafe on the question "What is the role of conversation and storytelling in the workplace?”.
Best wishes David
