The 17th European Conference on e-Learning is jointly organised by the Hellenic Air Force Academy (HAFA) and the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) of Athens and will be held at the TEI of Athens.
Whilst knowledge production rates are rapidly increasing knowledge and skills lifespan is diminishing. The evolution of ICT has gradually formed an accepted learning landscape characterised by:
The production of information and new knowledge
New ways of acquiring knowledge
Universally accessible, sources of knowledge (such as MOOCs)
The emergence of Web 2.0-based technologies, media and applications Portable devices and the possibilities they offer in learning
Emerging learning theories to explain these new ways of acquiring knowledge
All these issues are leading education institutions to change and adapt.
Universities need to cope with these changes by bridging the gap between the real world inside the classroom and the virtual digital world through the development and adoption of distance learning, e-Learning, mobile learning and ubiquitous learning and their use in the teaching practice.
We hope to tackle these and other emerging issues at ECEL 2018 and we look forward to welcoming you to Athens, an eternal city with a history spanning over 3,400 years.
