Good games lead to great educational experiences. They also provide new perspectives on the learning process and our views on education. Research into games for learning is still a fairly new field and, we still have many unanswered questions on the subject of digital games and learning.
We want to learn more about games and the effectiveness of learning activities. What games are best suited to different subjects and what works within the context of different learning environments? How can games and game based technology help us give a better and more profound learning experience?
Who are the gamers of today? What games do they play? What can we learn from the games that they play? How can we bring this knowledge into the learning context? The technology is available, but is the knowledge within the educational sector good enough to exploit the possibilities of games for better learning experiences?
We hope that ECGBL 2015 will help us to find answers to some of these questions. It is also is an opportunity to present your research, theories, application, practice and validation in the field of Game-Based Learning. In addition, you will be able to enjoy the small and friendly, central-Norwegian town of Steinkjer and if luck is on our side, you may catch a few glimpses of the marvelous aurora borealis that is common at this time of year. A tip from us regarding your travel plans – ensure you use Trondheim as your final airport destination and not Oslo. There are many connecting flights from the major European hubs to Trondheim – which is an easy transfer to Steinkjer.
