KM Strategies for law firms |
|
Learn about writing KM Strategies in law firms from Duncan Ogilvy of 3Kites and share experiences with local Heads of Knowledge and law firm KMers. A well run law firm will inevitably and rightly only invest when it can see the point and when it has confidence in the ability of those charged with responsibility to deliver a return on that investment. In short you need a strategy to underpin any significant initiative such as KM. It is not feasible to focus on everything. Across any firm there will be a myriad of different opportunities which need to be prioritised for best effect and as a firm's KM maturity develops those priorities will change. This practical session will describe some of those opportunities and a suggested way to prioritise them, then to articulate those in a KM strategy. That should match the firm's overall strategy and match the KM needs of each part of the firm. To bring a strategy alive (we see many which never see the light of day once signed off!) we recommend extensive consultation in its preparation to ensure buy-in from those affected. Duncan Ogilvy is a consultant at 3Kites and a popular speaker at Knowledge Network UK. Having worked at Mills and Reeve as Managing Partner, and both taken and taught on the Nottingham Law School MBA, he is perfectly placed to advise law firms on Knowledge matters and improving the efficiency, effectiveness and profitability of law firms. This session is part of the Knowledge Network UK programme, but everyone is welcome.
