I knew Barry Briggs when I worked at Lotus Development in Cambridge back in the early 90s. I also knew his wife to be Julie Kim who also worked at Lotus at that time. I have not met or talked with Barry in over 10 years but keep silently in touch with him by reading his weblog.
So given my own deep interest in the history of humanity and the fact that the parents to be of a very important woman in my life fled mainland China for Taiwan with Chiang Kai-shek's defeated forces in 1949 and later they and their daughters moved to America and England - I was touched to read this story of his and Julie's background.
