Richard Dawkins is a British Zoologist. He studied at Oxford and later taught at the University of California, Berkeley. He returned to Oxford to lecture in zoology in 1970. His work on animal behaviour and genes emphasizes that apparently selfish behaviour is designed to ensure survival of the gene above that of the carrier The Selfish Gene. This and wider views on behaviour and evolution have been developed in The Blind Watchmaker.
